"Jaylen Brown got 1 sided beef"- NBA fans react to Celtics star's 'too small' on 6-foot-11 Giannis Antetokounmpo
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown fueled the rivalry against the Milwaukee Bucks during their matchup on Friday at TD Garden when he hit Giannis Antetokounmpo with a "too small" taunt. Brown made a tough layup over Antetokounmp at the start of the third quarter before mocking the 6-foot-11 forward that he was "too small" to guard him.
Brown kept up the taunt even after the Bucks' inbound and pointed at Antetokounmpo which led to him being assessed with a technical foul.
NBA fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their reactions to the in-game moment between Brown and Antetokounmpo.
"Jaylen brown got 1 sided beef with giannis ðŸ˜" a fan tweeted.
"Calling Giannis too small is insane 💀" a fan tweeted.
"That boy jaylen wanna be a villain so bad 😂" a fan tweeted.
"NBA need to test Brown for steroids. Dude exhibiting early signs of roid rage," a fan tweeted.
"Isn’t Jaylen supposed to be smart? That was so dumb. Softest lay up I’ve seen and he acts like he dunked it on Giannis," a fan tweeted.
"Brown one of the corniest dudes in the league," a fan tweeted.
Despite a strong effort by the Milwaukee Bucks, the matchup concluded with a 111-105 victory for the reigning NBA champions. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks' losing effort with a double-double performance of 30 points, 11 rebounds, and one assist. Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown recorded 25 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a block for the Celtics' win.
Jaylen Brown and Giannis Antetokounmpo had a viral interaction in their previous matchup too
The Boston Celtics' previous matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks last month featured a viral interaction between their stars Jaylen Brown and Giannis Antetokounmpo, with Brown on the receiving end.
In the game, Antetokounmpo hit Brown with his elbow while attempting a turnaround shot, for which a foul was called on him. While running back on defense, Antetoukounmp reached out his hand to Brown for a shake, seemingly apologizing for the elbow. However, as Brown extended his hand to shake, Giannis pulled his hand back, hitting the Celtics star with the "too slow" gesture with a grin.
After the game, Jaylen Brown was questioned about the moment, to which he replied that he didn't find the incident to be humorous.
"Giannis is a child. I'm just focused on helping my team get a win. And that's what we did tonight," Brown said.
The "fake handshake" move by Giannis Antetokounmpo in their previous encounter may have prompted Brown to hit back with the "too small" move in Friday's matchup.
