Jaylen Brown names his favorite arena to play after TD Garden
The Boston Celtics went up against the Philadelphia 76ers in their third preseason game on Saturday and Jaylen Brown's 18 points helped the NBA champions secure a dominating 139-89 win. Following the game, Brown spoke about his favorite arena to play except the Celtics' home, TD Garden.
Celtics reporter Daniel Donabedian posted the news on X, formerly Twitter. He uploaded a picture of Brown and wrote:
"Jaylen Brown said that New York is his favorite place to play at outside of TD Garden."
The Madison Square Garden is a historic place, as some of the biggest games have been played at that arena, making it a favorite of many NBA stars.
The Knicks won their 1970 NBA championship at the Garden and most recently the All-Star game was hosted there in 2015. Accordong in the New York Times, Pelicans star Zion Williamson had called the Garden the "Mecca" of basketball.
"New York is the mecca of basketball. I love playing here. I’ve played here in college. This is my first time playing here in the pros. This atmosphere, whether they are cheering for you or booing for you, it’s amazing."
Given the history and popularity of the Garden, it is clear why Jaylen Brown has a liking for Knicks' home arena.
"People only care about offense": Jaylen Brown spoke about All-Defensive snub last season
Jaylen Brown spoke about his aspirations concerning the All-Defensive team in a post-game interview after playing the 76ers on Saturday. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP was asked about the work he puts in for a team that is full of defensive-minded players and how he makes himself stand out. Brown said:
"I feel like I should have been [All-Defensive team] last season. I feel like I took every defensive matchup all season long. I guarded the best player on every team, picked up full-court whether it was point guards, centers or whatever but people don't pay attention to that intricate defense. People only care about offense."
Brown is an incredible offensive player but people miss out on his defensive contributions. Last season, he averaged 0.5 blocks and 1.2 steals per game, which are great considering the fact that he has a big offensive load as well.
