Jaylen Brown responds to Grant Hill's conspiracy theory claims over NBA Finals MVP's snub from Olympics: "disappointing"
Jaylen Brown made his feelings clear about Grant Hill's recent conspiracy theory claims. The Boston Celtics star has responded to Hill and Team USA's stance to exclude him from the Olympic lineup due to a "basketball decision."
Brown's exclusion has been one of the talking points leading up to the Paris Olympics with many basketball fans surprised that the guard did not make the 12-man roster.
On Sunday, Brown posted a message on X, formerly known as Twitter, to his more than 750,000 followers defending himself against Hill's claims.
"Grant Hill calling me a conspiracy theorist is disappointing I’ve been a VP since I was 21 years old I have a great understanding," said Brown.
Brown's post appears to be his response to Hill's statement on Friday's episode of the 'Dan Patrick Show' where he said that there was no conspiracy theory and that the decision was purely related to basketball strategy. Hill also defended the move and went on to state that it was the "right decision."
Jaylen Brown missed out on Team USA Olympic roster despite outstanding 2023-24 season
The decision to leave Jaylen Brown out of the squad shocked fans, especially after his teammate Derrick White was selected to the roster to replace Kawhi Leonard.
Jaylen Brown has been one of the league's best players over the last three seasons. He was part of the 2022 Celtics who reached the NBA Finals, and also a three-time All-Star, won the NBA title this past season, and was named the Finals MVP after leading his team to a dominant 4-1 series win over the Dallas Mavericks.
In the 2023-24 campaign, Brown averaged 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and shot nearly 50 percent from the field (49.9%).
