Jayson Tatum’s girlfriend Ella Mai teases ‘wonderful time’ ahead of Celtics’ NBA 2024-25 season opener

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum's girlfriend, Ella Mai, dropped a cryptic message on Sunday, likely anticipating the start of the NBA 2024-25 season. Mai took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a chat that featured a countdown to Tuesday when the latest NBA season tips off.

"T minus 3 days until the most wonderful time of the year," the message read.

Jayson Tatum and Ella Mai reportedly started dating in 2020; however, they made their first public appearance together in July 2022. The couple recently welcomed their first child together, introducing their baby during the photoshoot after Tatum bagged his first Olympic gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Tatum had a great year. He secured his first NBA title in the previous season, welcomed his second child, and bagged his first Olympic gold. During the offseason, he signed a $315 million supermax contract extension with the Celtics— the richest contract in the NBA's history.

The five-time NBA All-Star and Boston begin their title defense against the New York Knicks in their 2024-25 season opener on Tuesday.

Jayson Tatum excited for opening night after clinching his first NBA title

Ahead of the curtain raiser against the New York Knicks on Tuesday night, the Boston Celtics will raise a title banner for the first time since 2008. In a conversation with Andscape on Monday, Jayson Tatum said he was excited to finally see the Celtics' NBA record 18th championship banner raised and get his first ring.

“I’ve seen opening night in the NBA so many years,” Tatum said. “I’ve seen teams see their banner raised and get their rings. I’m like, ‘Man, I want that to be me one day.’ I haven’t seen what the rings look like. It’s going to be a surprise to all of us. I am going to have my family there. My mom and [my son], Deuce [Jayson, Jr.], will be courtside with all the fans that have been supporting us over the years."
“That moment it’s going to be special. It will be something I will cherish the rest of my life. You always will remember that moment when you won you got your first ring, you got to put it on. That is what all my favorite players did.”

Jayson Tatum concluded the 2024 NBA playoffs, averaging 25.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 42.7% as the Celtics went on a dominant 16-3 run to secure the title.
