Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Yankees manager Aaron Boone make feelings clear on Hunter Dobbins' jab at Bronx Bombers

Jazz Chisholm Jr. and New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone had some interesting reactions to Boston Red Sox pitcher Hunter Dobbin’s comments. Before the two teams' faceoff, Dobbin had said that he’d rather retire than sign with the pinstripes.

His comments took the spotlight before the showdown started. Given the Red Sox and Yankees' decades-old rivalry history, it’s not quite a surprise, especially as Dobbin’s father was a diehard Red Sox fan.

Jazz Chisholm Jr., shrugged off the pitcher’s comments and instead said that he’d welcome some trash talk, as it’s a rarity nowadays in MLB.

“I think there should be more trash talk in baseball!!! Anyone agrees!?,” Jazz Chisholm Jr. noted.

NY Yankees manager Aaron Boone also brushed off the comments as “young” and chuckled.

"He's young. I don't know. I don't think it's a dig at our players. It's an interesting comment as a player to make that. I think it's just a comment of his love of his team is all. A little funny."

Former Yankees pitcher Lucas Luetge chimed in on social media:

“A couple million dollars would change that opinion real quick.”

Before the series finale began, Hunter Dobbins said that he was waiting for this rivalry game for a long time and that he’s excited to be a part of it.

In a pre-game interview, NY Yankees manager Aaron Boone was questioned whether he would like to have more trash talks in baseball, as mentioned by Chisholm. However, Boone said that it’s not something he’s “craving”.

"I'm not craving more trash talk. I've gotten my fill from these college regionals and some of the nonsense that I see going on, like, what are we doing? No, I'm not craving that, but it doesn't bother me, either."

In a pregame message, Chisholm revealed his words to his teammates:

“We’re going to kick a** tonight”.

He said he likes “competitiveness”, but Hunter Dobbins' comments aren't something he’d take from, as it “feel like that closes doors” during free agency or trade.
