Jimmy Butler breaks silence with blunt answers on Heat future amid trade rumors
Jimmy Butler has broken silence on trade rumors around his future with the Miami Heat. The superstar has been linked to the Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets. According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, teams have started to 'kick tires' on Butler's availability and the package the Heat may demand for their superstar.
“We were probably headed for an ending between the Heat and Jimmy Butler," Windhorst said on Wednesday.
"I wouldn't say it's a done deal yet, but I think teams are starting to kick the tires there to see what it might take … and the Warriors are one of them."
In an interview with Heat's beat writer Anthony Chiang, Butler opened up on his future with the Heat. The two-time NBA finalist seemed less than optimistic about his long-term future on the East Coast team.
"Who knows?"uButler said replying to questions about his long-term future.
"I don’t know," Butler said when asked if he sees himself ending his career in Miami.
Jimmy Butler is in the middle of his sixth season in Miami. He's a free agent next summer and hasn't signed an extension. Butler said on Media Day that signing a max contract wasn't one of his priorities and he doubled down on it in Wednesday's interview with Chiang.
