Jimmy Butler hilariously admits he is bringing back the dreads after All-Star break: "Everybody's going to have to use that picture again"

Jimmy Butler sent NBA fans last offseason when he donned dreadlocks and posted pictures on social media. He went a step further and did his media day photo shoot with the same look. The NBA and every publication had to use the picture on their websites as thumbnails.

However, some publications changed the picture and switched to old images of the Heat superstar. Butler took note of this and decided to go back to that look after the All-Star break. Here's what he said about this (via Legion Hoops):

“I’m going to change it because when I come back after the All-Star break, I’m going to have dreads and everybody is going to have to use that picture again."

Jimmy Butler switched to his original hairstyle before the season started. He got the dreads to send the internet into a frenzy. It certainly worked. Butler, however, seems to want the buzz to stay alive. With major publications switching pictures of his dreadlocks, the Miami Heat All-Star forward may not hesitate to sport the dreadlocks again.

Jimmy Butler quietly having another All-Star caliber year

Jimmy Butler has been one of the most underrated stars in the NBA for some time. He is one of the most well-rounded players with the knack of playing with great intensity on both ends of the court. The Miami Heat forward has had another solid year, averaging 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game, shooting a career-high 52.1% from the field.

After a shaky start, the Heat are back as a top-six team in the Eastern Conference standings with a 29-23 record. Butler has played an instrumental role in their resurgence. He has been as efficient as ever on both ends of the court, leading the team from the front.

He is among the candidates to make the All-Star game this season. Butler was fifth among Eastern Conference frontcourt players after the third installment of the fan returns with 954,799 votes.

Along with his consistency with his numbers, Butler has done an exceptional job of keeping the struggling Heat afloat early in the season. He played through a recurring knee problem when the team was shorthanded on several occasions.

Miami also doesn't have the depth that their rivals boast. The Heat lost a key piece like PJ Tucker in free agency and didn't make any significant roster changes. These factors strengthen Butler's case for making the All-Star game. It would be his seventh career All-Star selection, third as a Miami Heat player.
