JJ Redick deems Richard Jefferson directly responsible for the Golden State Warriors dynasty - "That bulls**t trade to the Utah Jazz"

The Golden State Warriors were a powerhouse when rolling to five straight NBA Finals and winning three championships from 2015-19. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green ran laps around the league, and few teams had a shot against them during their dominant run.

On JJ Redick's "The Old Man & the Three" podcast, Redick discussed with Richard Jefferson how he was responsible for the Warriors turning into the team we've all seen over the last few years.

"Do you ever think about the fact that you are directly responsible for this Warriors' dynasty," Redick said, "because without you and that bulls**t trade to the Utah Jazz, they can't clear cap space, and Andre Iguodala likely signs with the Sacramento Kings and they potentially don't become the Warriors that we've witnessed over the last eight years."

Jefferson responded by taking the sarcastic route as he talked about his impact on the young core of Curry, Thompson and Green along with how he knew what these players needed to do to reach their potential. Jefferson joked that he was responsible for Kawhi Leonard's rise to stardom in San Antonio when RJ was traded by the Spurs to the Warriors.

How the Warriors acquired Andre Iguodala

On July 5, 2013, the Golden State Warriors traded away Richard Jefferson ($11 million) and Andris Biedrins ($9 million) to the Utah Jazz for Andre Iguodala. Upon trading Jefferson and Biedrins, it gave the Warriors enough cap space to sign Iguodala, and the rest was history.

Andre Iguodala was pivotal to the Warriors' consistent success, especially with his defensive tenacity against LeBron James in the 2015 NBA Finals to help secure the dynasty's first championship and a Finals MVP award for him.
