JJ Redick drops major update on LeBron James & Anthony Davis' availability for Lakers vs Suns pre season game
Despite LeBron James and Anthony Davis sitting out the LA Lakers' preseason opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, the standout duo will be in action on Sunday when the Lakers take on the Phoenix Suns. On Saturday, Redick spoke with media members following a morning practice, where he answered a question every LA fan has been dying to know.
When asked whether LeBron James and Anthony Davis would be playing in Sunday's game, Redick said yes to both players, explaining the impact they'll have on the team:
"Yeah, it'll be great for us [to have them both out there]. You know, we've mixed some lineups during practices and not just had purple versus Gray, where it's strictly just the starters. So, you know, we've had different groups play, and we'll do that again tomorrow, but it'll be good for those five guys to get some run together."
Redick also talked about how the team's preparations for the 2024-25 season, saying that things have been going well, and the team is excited for the preseason clash against the Phoenix Suns.
Bronny James makes NBA preseason debut as proud dad LeBron James watches on
While LeBron didn't play in the LA Lakers' preseason opener on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, his son Bronny James did. After competing in the California Classic and the NBA 2k25 Las Vegas Summer League, Bronny James suited up for his first game of the 2024-25 NBA preseason.
Watching on was none other than his father, future Hall of Famer LeBron James, who saw his son realize a long-time dream of playing in the NBA. After 16 minutes of action, Bronny James ended the game with two points, an assist and a rebound, as well as three blocked shots.
While his numbers didn't jump off the page, JJ Redick spoke about the debut of LeBron James' son with media members afterward, praising Bronny James:
"I liked what I saw from Bronny. He's so easy to coach. And he's got a great soul. And just a great energy about him. I like being around him and I'm rooting for him." (6:00)
"He's a good player that we're happy to have in our program."
While fans had been hoping to see LeBron James and Bronny James share the court together in Friday's game, it appears that Sunday's matchup may finally provide an opportunity for the father-son duo to make NBA history.
