John Wall mentors Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green on league expectations: “You’ll be out of f**kin league”

John Wall had a brief stint with the Houston Rockets. He had the opportunity to play with Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. While both of these players have long and successful careers ahead of them, their style of play is a cause for concern.

John Wall recently spoke about his experience playing alongside Porter Jr. and Green in Houston. He believes they need to change the way they play the game. Otherwise, their time in the NBA will be shortlived.

"This sh*t y'all getting away with here (with the Rockets). If you go to any other teams, you would be out of the ****ing league. You wouldn't play. I'm trying to explain it to them because they think it's sweet."

It's tough to argue with Wall here. The two youngsters are clearly bright spots for the organization. But the way they act has been questioned by players and executives around the league. Porter has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Casual fans know him more for to the locker room issues he caused during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

John Wall relationship with Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green

Although John Wall showed them some tough love, Porter Jr. and Green seem to have a good relationship with their former teammate.

Porter praised Wall for his leadership. Having a veteran teammate that can help you develop your skills is huge. Wall did exactly that for Porter.

“John has impacted me tremendously. Just him being a big brother and a vet when he was here when I was first switching my position. I had a great vet to lean on and that was John Wall.
"Everyone knows what he was able to do in his early and late years in the league. Injuries haven’t favored him but as far as the player, he knows how to run a team."
“He helped me when I was trying to learn how to run a team and seeing him back out there was a blessing. I knew he wanted to be out there, play and do what he loves to do and that’s hoop. Seeing him out there smiling and running, it’s a great feeling."

Rockets coach Stephen Silas praised John Wall for his ability to help the younger guys. He sees Wall's influence on Jalen Green. That's all a coach can ask for from his veterans.

Silas knows it's a work in progress for the young duo. But he has noticed a lot of growth and maturity in their games this season.

“For KPJ (Kevin Porter Jr.), the decision-making has been really good. ...You see that growth. He is not turning it over like he did last year. You can see that him and Jalen (Green) have a good connection. It is about playing the game and playing well together, which is super important.”

The Rockets are currently last in the league with a 10-34 record. They face the Charlotte Hornets tomorrow at the Toyota Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm/ET.
