Spurs And Josh Primo Sued by Dr. Hillary Cauthen, former Spurs staff over allegations of Primo's indecent exposure

Josh Primo and the San Antonio Spurs are being sued by Hillary Cauthen, a former Spurs psychologist. According to reports, Primo has been accused of exposing himself to Cauthen on nine occasions.

It's the latest chapter in a controversy which resulted in the Spurs releasing the former 12th overall pick. There was a lot of confusion surrounding the decision to waive Primo on October 28. Earlier in the month, the Spurs exercised their third-year option on Primo to keep him under team control through the 2023-24 season.

According to Shams Charania of 'The Athletic', the situation with Primo became a problem in December 2021. Cauthen brought up her concerns about Primo to the franchise. The Spurs reportedly failed to act on the accusations. Primo continued to expose himself to Cauthen during "individual private sessions" over the next ten months.

Former Spurs psychologist Hillary Cauthen has sued the Spurs and Josh Primo and is filing a criminal complaint over alleged incidents involving indecent exposure by Primo, alleging Primo exposed himself nine times to her beginning in December 2021 and the franchise failed to act.

Despite numerous complaints from Cauthen, the team allowed him to continue booking sessions with the psychologist.

Lawsuit alleges Primo exposed his genitals nine times to Cauthen during "individual private sessions" despite her numerous complaints about Primo's improper sexual conduct to the organization's leadership.

Primo and his team have emphatically refuted the allegations. He released a statement through social media shortly after he was waived by the Spurs. The 19-year old revealed that he is seeking help to cope with the trauma he has experienced in his life. He will use the time off to focus on his mental health.

According to a report from TMZ, an unnamed source close to Primo claimed the situation was the result of a wardrobe malfunction. Primo frequently sought counseling after practice. It was an issue with his basketball shorts that caused the wardrobe mishaps.

Primo allegedly exposed himself to Cauther at least nine times during their sessions. It remains to be seen how much money Cauther is seeking in the lawsuit against Josh Primo and the Spurs.

This is a bad look for the franchise. They allegedly tried to sweep the situation under the rug and allowed Primo to continue his sessions with Cauthen.

Primo averaged 7.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds in four games this season. It was an underwhelming stretch for the former lottery pick. He was also averaging nearly three turnovers per game.

Josh Primo last suited up for the Spurs during their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 24. He may never get another opportunity to continue his NBA career.

Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
