Jrue Holiday dishes candid response on facing former team
Jrue Holiday arguably had the best trade last season as his move from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Boston Celtics made him a two-time NBA champion. However, Holiday made a name for himself during his time with the Bucks and when he faced his former team on Friday he had something to say about the reunion.
The Celtics hosted the Bucks at TD Garden on Friday and walked out with a 111-105 win. During the post-game interview, Holliday expressed his thoughts on facing his former teammates.
"When it's tip-off to the buzzer, I wanna win," Holiday said. "It's great seeing them every time I play and probably even more so because they are like my brothers and I wanna whoop their a** every time and they know that too, they feel the same way about me.
"It is just like hey bro good to see you and then once the game starts it's like nah we're not friends anymore."
Jrue Holiday delivered on Friday against his former team. The Bucks guard scored 20 points, collected five rebounds and dished out six assists in the win.
Jrue Holiday teases Giannis Antetokounmpo on his special day ahead of the Bucks-Celtics game
Before the Bucks played the Celtics on Friday, Jrue Holiday talked to a few reporters. One reporter asked the Celtics guard if he had sent birthday wishes to the Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
"Oh is it, I have to tell him when I see him, he’s getting old," Holiday said.
Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo bonded well during their time together. The two stars were responsible for the historic 2021 championship run of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Giannis Antetokounmpo turned 30 on the night he faced the Celtics. He delivered a spectacular individual performance against the reigning NBA champions, registering 30 points, 11 rebounds and one assist.
Damian Lillard stepped up to help Antetokounmpo. Dame Time reigned supreme as the Bucks guard netted in 31 points, collected five rebounds and dished out four assists. However, both Antetokounmpo's and Lillard's efforts were in vain as the Bucks lost.
