Justin Termine outlines the concerns lying ahead of Phoenix Suns as Devin Booker is out due to injury

NBA radio co-host Justin Termine, on Sirius XM, expressed his concern for the Phoenix Suns while guard Devin Booker is out with an injury. The team has begun to struggle as of late, losing four of its last five games. The team is in fifth place in the Western Conference standings, but only two games ahead of the tenth-place Golden State Warriors.

Termine spoke to NBA veteran Eddie Johnson about the state of the Suns and their place in the Western Conference. He says that the Suns are lucky that the Warriors are without Steph Curry during this time.

Booker has a left groin strain and will be evaluated again in four weeks. He had one of the best seasons of his career, averaging a career-high 27.1 points per game, along with 5.6 assists per game and 4.6 rebounds per game. The team’s next leading scorer is center Deandre Ayton with 18.1 ppg.

In the absence of Booker, the team will have to lean on its guard rotation of Chris Paul, Damion Lee, and Landry Shamet to pick up some of the slack. Unfortunately, none of those players are the offensive weapon that Devin Booker is. If the team falls too far behind and needs some clutch buckets, they will have to find that player.

The best Case for Devin Booker and the Suns

The Phoenix Suns' best-case scenario is that Devin Booker will only be gone for four weeks. If they review him at that time and conclude that he needs to be out any longer, it may completely change the team's season. The Phoenix Suns entered the season believing they were title contenders. However, after a heartbreaking loss to the Mavericks in the Western Conference Semifinals, the club was looking for a better season this year.

INJURY UPDATE: Further evaluation has confirmed that Devin Booker has sustained a left groin strain. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

Devin Booker has emerged as the best player for a team that was just in the NBA Finals in the 2020-21 season. He was named an All-Star in the previous three seasons and got his first All-NBA selection last season.
