Karl-Anthony Towns' camp reportedly "stunned" after 4X All-Star's surprise trade to Knicks

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reportedly executed a blockbuster trade to send Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, and a first-round draft pick.

The news that dropped on Friday shocked the NBA world and the sentiment was resonated by Towns' camp.

Karl-Anthony Towns was seemingly speechless by the news of his move merging three days before the start of training camp. He took to X, formerly Twitter, to comment "..." just moments after the news broke out.

Having been with the Timberwolves since they drafted him first overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, Karl-Anthony Towns never hinted at any discontent with the team despite several lean years. However, an upside to the trade for Towns is that he will return to his roots, having grown up in New Jersey.

Timberwolves fans react to news of Karl-Anthony Towns' trade to Knicks

Karl-Anthony Towns played a crucial role for the Minnesota Timberwolves making the Western Conference Finals for the first time in 20 years. The news of his trade upset Timberwolves fans who took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their opinion.

"I just don’t get why the Wolves did this, sure they add a little bit of depth but KAT is a legend in Minnesota and this offer doesn’t make them a crazy better team," a fan tweeted.
"Hard to imagine this team without KAT. Trying to be optimistic and see the forest through the trees - but honestly a sad day for the true Wolves fans. Such an exemplary human through so many tough years…" a fan tweeted.
"I’m so disappointed with this team! How could they do this to him after all that he’s done for this organization!!!!" a fan tweeted.
"KAT for all accounts was a good person and well liked here. But as a straight basketball decision I like this for the Wolves. Randle will be better for their spacing and you get a sharp shooter as well as a first. KAT has a massive contract and you worry about his knee long-term," a fan tweeted.
"Man that’s gonna be weird not having KAT in Wolves uniform. And no more Nova Knicks 😔" a fan tweeted.
"This is a culture killer. You can't move on one of the most beloved players in the history of the franchise and expect it to go smoothly," a fan tweeted.

Karl-Anthony Towns is the only big man in NBA history to have multiple seasons averaging at least 20 points while shooting over 50% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. The former Rookie of the Year is expected to take his talents to the New York Knicks ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season next month.
