"Kelly Who-Bre?" - Zoolander star fires back at Kelly Oubre Jr. for dissing Knicks' celebrity row
Philadelphia 76ers star Kelly Oubre Jr recently sparked up some beef with the New York Knicks' celebrity row ahead of the team's first-round series. After the 76ers took out the Miami Heat to earn the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, fans began to weigh in on the first-round matchup. Amid the online chatter, Kelly Oubre Jr took aim at the Knicks' celebrity row.
Oubre's beef with the Knicks came out of nowhere. As he alleged, however, the franchise gave celebrity fans tickets worth thousands of dollars for the sake of appearance.
This in turn creates an environment where the Knicks' celebrity row largely consists of high-profile figures who are there because they were invited, not because they're die-hard Knicks fans. Despite that, he explained that he was excited to compete at the Madison Square Garden.
The move was somewhat out of left field as no Knicks celebrity had taken shots at Kelly Oubre Jr. Despite that, after being tagged in a response, Ben Stiller, who from the sounds of things, will be in attendance, took aim at the 76ers forward.
"Oh I think I care a lot more than you think that you thought I cared… Kelly Who-bre?" Stiller said.
Looking at the Kelly Oubre Jr and the Philadelphia 76ers' first-round matchup with the New York Knicks
Kelly Oubre Jr and the Philadelphia 76ers are making final preparations in New York, where they will face the Knicks in Game 1 of their first-round series this afternoon. Of course, it's no secret that the 76ers entered the postseason by way of the play-in tournament, and are sitting as the seventh seed.
Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson and the Knicks have been generating quite a bit of buzz despite the absence of Julius Randle. The team managed to finish the regular season in second place in the East, just behind the Boston Celtics.
Although the seeding of both teams would make one think that the Knicks are heavy favorites, that isn't the case. Looking at FanDuel Sportsbook, the Knicks sit as slight -144 favorites, while the 76ers sit as +118 underdogs.
The Knicks notably won the regular season series between the two teams with three wins to the 76ers' one. Of course, it's important to note that Joel Embiid only suited up for 39 games this season, impacting the 76ers' record considerably.
With the reigning MVP healthy and eager to make a statement in the postseason, it will be interesting to see how things play out in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Pacific (6:00 p.m. Eastern) with the game nationally televised on ESPN as well as local markets.
