Kendrick Perkins questions Steve Kerr's coaching following Golden State Warriors' embarrassing loss

The Golden State Warriors just finished a brutal six-game road trip with back-to-back demolitions at the hands of the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets. They lost by a combined 68 points in the last two games, but could have still been worse had their opponents not let up.

After those two lopsided losses, Kendrick Perkins did not mince his criticism at Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and his team:

“The Warriors got SMOKED last night by the Knicks and now the Nets beating the brakes off them… at what point is Steve Kerr going to have his team ready to compete! It’s a lot different when you don’t have Steph to bail you out huh?! Don’t mind me tho and Carry on…”

The problem with the Golden State Warriors’ current situation is they’re not consistently a championship-caliber team with Steph Curry around this season. They’ve had games where they looked elite, such as the time they beat the Boston Celtics. But for most of the season, they’ve been underwhelming and it reflects on their 15-18 record.

Without Curry and with Andrew Wiggins sidelined for a few weeks already, the Warriors have looked terrible. Minus those two, defenses have keyed in on Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson to disastrous results.

Everyone in the NBA knew that the Warriors would find rough sailing without Curry, but Kerr was adamant they could still beat anybody. The only team they beat during their six-game road swing was the Toronto Raptors, who have lost 7-10. Toronto was on a five-game slide when the two teams met last Sunday.

The Golden State Warriors' defense, which has improved a bit before Steph Curry’s injury, is back to being lackadaisical. They’ve given up 129 points over their last six games, the worst in the NBA by a significantly wide margin during that stretch.

"We gotta try to get this ship right with our team."

Bob Myers and Steve Kerr went out to dinner last night in NYC as the Warriors mull their options heading into the NBA trade deadline

Before the New York Knicks game, Steve Kerr and GM Bob Myers reportedly had dinner and discussed the Warriors’ need to “right the ship.”

On cue, they were run off the court against both New York teams. The game versus the Brooklyn Nets was even more embarrassing. The score stood 91-51 after the first 24 minutes of that game. It didn’t look like Kerr and Myers’ discussion had any effect, at least over the last two games, on the Bay Area team’s performance.

Kendrick Perkins has slammed the door on the Golden State Warriors’ title-retention bid

The Golden State Warriors are not repeating this season, according to Kendrick Perkins.

The Golden State Warriors still have 49 games to right the ship. It’s unclear, though, when Steph Curry will return. Klay Thompson also continues to have a largely roller-coaster season.

Golden State’s young role players have been thrown into deep waters with all the injuries. There’s still hope that their development will be fast-tracked and they will become crucial pieces to the Warriors’ championship puzzle.

Kendrick Perkins, however, has seen enough and asserted on national TV:

“We know that they can get into the Play-In Tournament and make the postseason. ... Are they finished when it comes down to a championship? And the answer is hell yeah they are.”

Last season, Perkins ate humble pie and publicly apologized for his disrespect of the Golden State Warriors. He may have to eat a bigger pie if Steve Kerr somehow leads his team’s turnaround and repeat as champions.
