Kevin Durant fires two-word response to a fan who attacks Team USA star's Drake connection
Team USA's leading Olympic scorer, Kevin Durant, clapped back at a fan who had something to say about him and Drake on social media on Sunday. The famed Canadian rapper has built relationships with NBA players like Durant and a few others over the years.
NBA stars often attend his concerts and show him support the way he attends some games in the league. However, not everyone is a fan of the rapper and his connection with other players.
A fan on X (formerly Twitter) called out Durant and claimed that he's not "tough" for hanging out with Drake. The Phoenix Suns star didn't let it slide.
"Shutup lame," Durant replied.
Fans have rallied against Drake since he started feuding with Compton-native artist Kendrick Lamar. The two icons of hip-hop have gone back and forth in releasing diss tracks against each other.
For Durant, he hasn't publicly expressed which side of the beef he's on. However, fans have tracked his whereabouts when other NBA stars like LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan attended Lamar's concert.
KD was seen hanging out with Drizzy as they celebrated Canada Day on Jul. 1.
Kevin Durant has been friends with Drake for a long time
It's unsure how long Kevin Durant and Drake have known each other. However, they've interacted countless times on social media. It even dates back to 2012, when KD gave a shoutout to the rapper ahead of the All-Star game in Orlando, Florida.
In 2013, Drake joined Durant's 25th birthday party. A year later, the NBA star returned the favor and attended the OVO Festival in Toronto, Canada. Both stars have shared a few friendly banters and interactions each time they meet at a game.
One famous interview from Durant in 2016 featured the rapper during the Toronto Raptors' "Drake Night." After the Golden State Warriors won against the Raptors, 127-121, KD was interviewed for his performance of 30 points, nine rebounds and six assists. While he was talking to the reporter, Drake playfully bumped into him.
Following that, he was asked about the special night in Toronto, and he said:
"I don’t give a damn about no damn Drake night," KD said after the rapper bumped into him.
Kevin Durant might not be known to be the most loyal to a single team, but he's committed to his friendship with Drake.
