Kevin Durant leaves Steph Curry out of NBA 2K25 current 'perfect' starting five in 5x All-Star's favor
Kevin Durant considers five-time All-Star Luka Doncic a better fit than Steph Curry to run point on NBA2K's current 'perfect' starting five. The game-based lineup includes former Warriors teammate Klay Thompson at the shooting guard position, rival LeBron James at the four and 2023 MVP Joel Embiid at center.
Durant put himself at small forward to complete his version of the current 'perfect' starting five in NBA2K:
"I'll probably go Luka at the point," Durant said on Boardroom's podcast on Thursday. "Luka, me, Bron, Embiid at my five cause' Embiid shooting 3s better than Jok [Jokic] in the game ... Then you gotta go with somebody like Klay at 6'7" shooting that thing like that."
Kevin Durant disclosed the list while battling NFL star Sauce Gardner in NBA 2K25. Durant chose size and length in his lineup and maintained the spacing by choosing Joel Embiid at the five, who has a three-way scorer built with a respectable 82 rating as a 3-point shooter, bettering Nikola Jokic's 80.
Meanwhile, at 6-foot-6, Klay Thompson is the shortest player in the lineup, nearly at par with most small forwards in the league. From an NBA 2K25 perspective, Luka Doncic's 97 overall rating betters Steph Curry's 95.
The Mavericks star also has a height advantage of five inches. Doncic also holds 24 badges, three more than Curry, and 15 gold to the latter's nine.
Kevin Durant unhappy with NBA 2K25 rating
Kevin Durant's NBA 2K rating dropped to 94 this year. While he's still in the top 10, he ranks ninth among all players. Durant had a 96 rating in NBA 2K24, but the Phoenix Suns star didn't seem impressed about it during Thursday's Boardroom episode with Sauce Garnder:
"I'm a 94, that's crazy bro," Durant said. "Sick of that s**t."
Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Joel Embiid, LeBron James, Steph Curry and Jayson Tatum are ranked above Kevin Durant. Anthony Davis rounds off the top 10 with a 94 rating.
"KD" saw a rating drop for the first time in three years after consecutively bagging a 96 from 2021 to 2024. His highest is a 97, which came in NBA 2K18 with the Golden State Warriors.
Durant was coming off two championships, and finals MVP runs that year. Since then, injuries, age and lack of collective success may have impacted his rankings.
