Kevin Durant outlines his expectation from Bronny James' future - "I wanna see Bronny hoop, see what he's doing and follow his journey"
Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant recently spoke about Bronny James playing college basketball. While sharing his thoughts on Bronny playing college ball, Durant also emphasized why the five-star recruit should consider the college route.
Bronny James has been at the forefront of media attention since his freshman year in high school. Having played for the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers since a young age, Bronny has risen in stature since then.
Although he wasn't viewed as a top recruit last season, Bronny came into his own this year. At the age of 18, the guard has made a name for himself as one of the top recruits in the class of 2023.
NBA superstar LeBron James' son has had several avenues open for him. With routes such as college, G League and playing basketball overseas available, everyone is eagerly waiting to see what Bronny does next. On that topic, Suns forward Durant shared his thoughts on what he believes would be the right move for Bronny.
Durant, having played college ball at the University of Texas, favors the idea of Bronny playing in college. He said on the 'The ETC's with KD':
"There's still some amazing talent in college right now. With so many different routes - the OTE's, going overseas, guys going to Australia, all that stuff is cool. But still going to college, I feel like that's a great route."
Durant highlighted that college ball is still a big stage that garners more attention. The pressure of performing on such a stage builds players differently. Durant said about Bronny:
"I would love to see Bronny in college instead of going the other route. I wanna see Bronny hoop, I wanna be in real time, see what he's doing and follow his journey. When you go to OTE and Ignite and you just go away for a year."
Durant and co-host Eddie Gonzalez also shared their thoughts on where Bronny could play. Gonzalez wants Bronny to play at USC, and Durant concurs.
"That's what my guess was too. Was it USC, Oregon and Duke? It's going to obviously be easy for Bron to catch the games if he's at USC."
Bronny James has already received several college offers
Kevin Durant could see his wish of playing Bronny James playing college ball true. With Bronny on the cusp of graduating from high school, the youngster has also emerged as a five-star recruit in the class of 2023.
Several reports have suggested that Bronny James has been approached by multiple collegiate programmes. However, a college scout also mentioned that reaching the 18-year old is no easy task.
There have been rumors about him joining the G League Ignite to prepare for the draft too. It seems evident that the eventual goal is to see Bronny play in the NBA alongside his father, LeBron James. Which route would suit him best remains to be seen.
