Kevin Durant partners with sportsbook to make NFL picks in 2024
Over the past few years, Kevin Durant has built a strong social media presence for the better or worse. Now, he'll be using his platform to share his picks for another pro sport.
During an interview with Kay Adams, Durant announced that he has agreed to a partnership with FanDuel Sportsbook. With the NFL season underway, the Phoenix Suns star will be giving out his football picks on a weekly basis.
"Excited to be here, man," Durant said. "And show how much bias I have for my Commanders, pick some NFL games, have some fun."
Kevin Durant now joins a fellow NBA star in partnering with a sportsbook for football season. Earlier this year, LeBron James announced that he is collaborating with DraftKings. The LA Lakers forward is also an avid football fan, regularly giving out picks during livestreams on Instagram.
Aside from sharing his football knowledge, KD will also attempt to get the Phoenix Suns back on track. After the franchise made a big swing by trading for Bradley Beal last offseason, expectations went through the roof. The star-studded squad ended up falling short and was swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Shocking NFL finish draws comparisons to iconic Kevin Durant moment
On Thursday night, the NFL season got underway in dramatic fashion. Following an exciting ending to the matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs, fans began referencing one of Kevin Durant's biggest moments.
With no time left in the game, the Ravens thought they scored a touchdown and had a chance to end things or go to overtime. However, upon further review, it was revealed that a portion of Isaiah Likely's foot was out of bounds. Because of this, the touchdown was cancelled and the Chiefs walked away with a 27-20 win.
As fans reacted to the finish online, some compared Likely to Kevin Durant. They brought up his Game 7 shot against the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021 postseason. KD thought he had won the game for the Brooklyn Nets, but his 3 was called a two after review showed his foot was on the line. The game went into overtime and Milwaukee won the game.
In the moment, many thought Durant had capped off an impressive series with one of the clutchest shot in playoff history. He came just short and it essentially marked the beginning of the end for that era of the Nets.
Due to Brooklyn being shorthanded, Durant played every minute in two of the final three games of that series with the Bucks. In that pivotal Game 7, he logged 53 minutes and finished with a stat line of 48 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
