Kevin Durant reveals reason behind not being in relationship, refutes heartbreak claims by IShowSpeed: “Started to understand women”

One of the biggest questions surrounding Kevin Durant is why he's still single and hasn't had a long-term relationship since calling it quits with Monica Wright. The two-time NBA champion was engaged with Wright, a former player and coach, but they went their separate ways in 2014.

During his recent appearance on Logan Paul's 'Impaulsive' podcast, Durant made it clear that he doesn't want a girlfriend. When IShowSpeed claimed that he had his heart broken, KD explained that it's a different matter altogether.

“I wouldn’t say I had my heart broken. I’ve uh..I started to understand women a little bit more as I, well, early on, I understood that like she’s not mine," Durant responded, via Black Sports Online.
“Even if she may be my girlfriend, she might be influenced by other people."

Ever since he broke up with Wright, Durant hasn't been linked with anybody else. The player has become more focused on basketball and didn't hesitate to pursue different ways to win that elusive NBA championship.

He joined the Golden State Warriors amid controversy in 2016, where he won two consecutive titles, in 2017 and 2018. After failing to three-peat, he joined the Brooklyn Nets alongside Kyrie Irving.

Durant was then traded to the Phoenix Suns last season, where he plays today, sharing touches with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. He's now a member of Team USA, ready to play in the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Kevin Durant, Monica Wright got honest about their past relationship

In the years that followed his break up with Monica Wright, Kevin Durant opened up about his experience with the lady, admitting that he didn't know how to love her.

“I had a fiancée, but…I really didn’t know how to, like, love her, you know what I’m saying? We just went our separate ways,” he said.

Wright spoke about the same in April, explaining that she was criticized over that decision.

“Yeah, in my last relationship [with NBA All-Star Kevin Durant], I had to make a decision about compromising myself as a woman. I had to make a decision to leave a relationship, which a lot of people thought I was crazy to leave. There was a lot of criticism over it. But I think God had my back in it.”

Kevin Durant is trying to add more silverware to his cabinets, but a wedding ring isn't part of his plans right now.
