Kevin Durant reveals his top 5 albums of the year; Drake and Future feature on the list
Kevin Durant revealed his top five albums of the year on Boardroom's ETC's with KD podcast. The Brooklyn Nets superstar, a hardcore hip-hop fan, listed albums from popular artists like Drake and Future in his top five of the year. Durant explained his thoughts behind each of his selections.
KD put Future's "I Never Liked You" album No. 1 on his list. He reserved high praise for the singer-songwriter's work on the album, saying:
“Every song. I wouldn’t say he had any misses on here,” KD noted. “[His] transparency. He’s honest. He’s vulnerable, confident, aggressive. He really is authentic with his music, you know?”
Durant had Drake and 21 Savage's "Her Loss" album at No. 2. The song "Rich Flex" hit the top charts around and on Durant's list. The Nets star didn't hesitate in admitting that he plays the marquee track during shootarounds and almost everywhere else.
The two-time NBA Finals MVP had 38 Spesh's "7 Shots" at No. 3, Steve Lacy's "Gemini Rights" at No. 4 and Kodak Black's "Black For Everything" at No. 5. Kevin Durant's comments suggest he has closely assessed these albums as he stated the small things that make these worth a shoutout.
He has been a hip-hop aficionado. Fans who haven't heard any of these albums can trust Durant's choices and listen to these tracks.
Throwback to when Kevin Durant said he wanted to release a full-length mix-tape
Kevin Durant's love for hip-hop and rapping goes way back. The former Golden State Warriors forward said he wanted to explore working on something with his talents as a rapper. Here's what he told The Washington Post about this:
"I'm talented in a lot of different areas. Rapping is one of those things I just enjoy doing…I think I'm going to do something. I have some resources and some nice people that's going to help me out. I have a studio in my house already. Maybe I might put out a little something and have a little something."
Durant also has a rap name: "Sniper Jones." He also released a song called "Tha Formula" with another artist named "B-Simp." Durant could polish his rapping skills and join a bevy of NBA players who have entered the hip-hop industry once he calls time on his career.
