Kevin Durant's return from injury gets key update from Shams Charania, date and targeted game revealed

Superstar Kevin Durant was recently traded to the Phoenix Suns but hasn't been able to play due to a knee injury. However, Durant just got a major injury update and that's exactly what Phoenix wanted to hear.

According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, Durant will return for the Suns in next Wednesday's road game against the Charlotte Hornets. This is going to be the first game that we will see Durant back in action since January 8.

Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns are targeting his Suns debut and return to action in next Wednesday's road game against the Charlotte Hornets, league sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Durant is on cusp of return from MCL sprain that he suffered on Jan. 8.

Not only is this good news for the Phoenix Suns, but it's also good for the rest of the league. Kevin Durant is undoubtedly one of the top five players in the NBA and having him back out there is a treat for all of the fans.

How do the Phoenix Suns look with Kevin Durant?

With the addition of Durant, the Phoenix Suns are hopeful that they can win an NBA championship this season. He will be joining a team with star Devin Booker, veteran Chris Paul, and a young possible rising star in Deandre Ayton. However, Phoenix has struggled a bit due to some injuries this season and they have some ground to make up for.

Phoenix is just four games above .500 at 32-28 on the season and is 9.5 games behind the first-place Denver Nuggets. They've managed to play much better basketball since Devin Booker returned as the team is 7-3 in their last 10 games. Now, with the addition of a healthy Kevin Durant, Phoenix is arguably the best team in the Western Conference.

Many believe that this is the missing piece that Phoenix needed. On top of that, Phoenix might not have even been missing a piece as this team just went to an NBA Championship two seasons ago and had the best record in the NBA last season. Everybody knows what this team can do when healthy at this point and adding arguably the best player in basketball will only make them that much better.
