"Kinda nervous" - D'Angelo Russell's gf Laura Ivaniukas jokes about her 'date' with 2-year-old son Riley

D'Angelo Russell and his girlfriend, Laura Ivaniukas, have been in a relationship since 2020, and they now share two children. Recently, Laura posted on her Instagram story that she went on a "date" with another man — none other than their two-year-old son, Riley.

Riley, born in September 2022, is the couple's first child. They also welcomed a daughter named Mila, born in August.

In an Instagram story on Thursday, Laura shared a sweet moment with their firstborn, showing Riley sipping on a shake while they appeared to be doing some coloring together, with the caption:

"On a date, kinda nervous."

D'Angelo Russell explains how fatherhood changed his life

Back in April, LA Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell spoke with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears about the impact of fatherhood. With Riley, Russell acknowledged that while raising him came with challenges, it ultimately transformed his life.

"Before becoming a parent, life seemed complete," Russell said. "But it was the arrival of Riley that filled every corner of our hearts with a love so deep. It reshaped our world, continuously teaching us patience, resilience, and the true meaning of unconditional love. A new purpose in life, beyond basketball.”

Having a child also led D'Angelo Russell to mature and embrace being a homebody, no longer feeling like he was missing out by not going out with friends.

"Before I had a kid, I always felt like I needed to be a part of my friends’ motion and see what they had going on and this and that. And I always realized I was a homebody," he said.
"So, once I had a kid it allowed me to just settle into being a homebody and focus in on myself and my foundation, my family and the life after basketball and all these different entities."

D'Angelo Russell has served as the Lakers' starting point guard for the majority of his second stint with the team.

Despite being the subject of trade rumors ever since the Lakers' 2023 Western Conference semifinals run, Russell has remained the team's primary starter, starting all but seven games since his return.

Last season, Russell was incredibly efficient from beyond the arc, shooting a career-best 41.5% on 7.2 3-point attempts per game. Under new head coach JJ Redick, the Lakers tip off their 2024-25 season against the Timberwolves on Oct. 22.
