Klay Thompson shocked the world earlier this offseason when he decided to walk away from the Golden State Warriors and join the Dallas Mavericks. Ever since then, the fans have been anticipatingly waiting to see one-half of the Splash Brothers embark on his new journey in Texas.

Thompson was decent at the Bay Area last season. He averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Last season, Klay Thompson saw himself start from the bench more as coach Steve Kerr built a starting five without him.

The Warriors finished the season with a 46-36 record. They failed to make the playoffs as the Sacramento Kings eliminated them from the play-in tournament.

Klay Thompson expresses his trust in Dallas Mavericks' potential

Klay Thompson's journey with the Mavericks will be the first time the former Warriors star will play in a jersey not draped in the Golden State colors. This will be an entirely new experience, allowing him to explore a side he never did during his time with the Dubs.

Earlier this month, Thompson attended Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki's charity tennis event, where he shared his thoughts on his new team and his plans for the future with Sports Illustrated

"I’m excited, It’s a whole new chapter of my career that has the potential to be really special,” he said. “The team was so close last year, three wins away from a championship.
"So I know we have the ingredients for success. We just have to stay together and build week by week. I know we can do something special, and that’s why I’m here early, just to get a feel for the city and the lay of the land. And I’m having fun while doing it."

The Dallas Mavericks will be back in action in late October as they take on the San Antonio Spurs at the American Airlines Center in their first game of the season.
