"Knock it off, Dollar Tree Windhorst": LeBron James' friend tears into Lakers insider while questioning credibility
NBA superstar LeBron James' friend, Sean Singletary, has hit out at LA Lakers insider Anthony F. Irwin over the apparent undue boasting of his credentials. This is in reaction to the podcast host's social media post about the "shallow" work of others in dispensing their duties.
Irwin took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent his frustration over the lack of creativity by other insiders to get the needed information from the front offices, particularly that of the Lakers. He wrote:
"The one sentiment I get most often when I talk to people around the league about their conversation with the Lakers front office is how little creativity they have. Everything is very rudimentary. You can't be known for that in this CBA."
Singletary, AKA 'Cuffs The Legend,' a former NBA player and now a podcaster, took issue to what Irwin was trying to imply, asserting that his credibility also left much to be desired. He reposted Irwin's post while making his thoughts known, referring to the Lakers insider as a poor man's version of ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
He wrote:
"You (Irwin) are not a real media source. Just a dude at the crib who talks about nothing. Just typing buzz words. Knock it off, Dollar Tree Windhorst."
Irwin describes himself as a lifelong NBA and Lakers fan, who reports on the various affairs of LA both from an organization standpoint and relative to the league in general through various media platforms.
Singletary, for his part, played one season (2008-09) in the NBA, splitting time with the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets. He is now a podcast host, appearing on shows such as "The Some Dude Show," "Up on Game," and "Cuffs The Legend."
'Cuffs The Legend' makes suggestions to help LA Lakers improve
Just as he is on the case of Anthony F. Irwin. 'Cuffs The Legend' has given his two cents on how the LA Lakers could improve. His suggestions include trading away Austin Reaves and getting a proven scorer like Brandon Ingram or Zach Lavine.
He took to X at the start of the new year and listed down what the Lakers needed to do if it was to improve on its campaign moving forward.
According to the podcaster, LA should trade away Reaves to improve the team's defense at the backcourt. He also underscored the need for the Purple and Gold to find an effective center to partner with Anthony Davis.
Trading away Rui Hachimura, he said, would also make sense, especially if it means landing players in the caliber of Ingram or Lavine.
"Cuffs The Legend' was high on the Lakers acquiring Shake Milton and Dorian Finney-Smith from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for a package that included D;Angelo Russell.
The Lakers are currently sixth in the Western Conference with a 22-18 record.
