Kyle Kuzma highlights Jordan Poole’s advantageous situation at Golden State Warriors
Kuzma can resonate with Poole about getting mentored by an all-time great. The former Lakers forward was under the late Kobe Bryant and LeBron James' wings during his time with the Purple and Gold. It is advantageous for young players to play on the same teams as some of these legends.
It helps them learn the little nuances of the game that often go unnoticed or aren't given the appropriate importance. Poole's ascension can be credited to Curry's mentorship. The fourth-year guard develops into one of the most efficient off-ball point guards and a lethal three-level scorer while playmaking at a high level.
Jordan Poole takes care of business against Memphis with Steph Curry sidelined
Jordan Poole registered one of his best performances of the season to help the Golden State Warriors get back to winning ways with a dominant 123-109 win over Memphis. The Warriors entered the game against the healthy Grizzlies without Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins.
However, Poole's aggressive approach from the get-go ensured the Warriors didn't miss their two All-Star starters as much. Poole bagged 20 points in the first half to set the tone. He finished with 32 points in 29 minutes before getting ejected after drawing two technical fouls.
The Warriors were coming off a 2-7 record and a two-game skid. They needed this win against their newest rivals at home to get their spirits up. Poole's inspiring effort got the whole team going. Draymond Green finished with a 13-rebound, 13-assist double-double, while Klay Thompson (24 points) and Donte DiVincenzo (19 points) also made invaluable contributions.
The Golden State Warriors again beat the odds against a top team. They did so previously against the Boston Celtics, arguably the best team in the NBA, and now the Grizzlies, a top contender in the West.
However, both wins came at home. The Warriors will have to try and maintain this intensity on the road. They are 3-16 away from home, the worst record in the league.
Kyle Kuzma is in awe of Jordan Poole's position with the Golden State Warriors as he gets mentored by Steph Curry. During the Warriors' Christmas Day game against the Memphis Grizzlies, a viral video showed Curry coaching up Poole in the middle of the first quarter.
Poole has been regarded as "Baby Curry" due to their similar playing styles. He is their designated backup for Curry and his predecessor to take charge as the team's starting point guard when the two-time MVP calls time on his stint in the Bay Area.
Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma was among the viewers who were fans of Jordan Poole getting mentored by Steph Curry. He expressed his views on Twitter, saying:
"Imagine being Jordan Poole. Has Steph to mentor every night lol cheat code!!!!"
