Kyrie Irving gets blunt about Mavericks' 25 turnovers despite win over Grizzlies
Kyrie Irving minced no words when he made note of the 25 turnovers in Dallas' 121-116 Emirates NBA Cup win over the Memphis Grizzlies at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday. The Mavericks' win didn't come easy as they were guilty of not handling the ball wisely. All of their players except for Daniel Gafford had turnovers alongside their names.
Irving, who had four TOs himself was blunt about the number of times they lost the ball to Memphis during the game.
"I ain’t ever turn the ball over 25 times and still get the f***ing W!"
If not for their relentless offensive pressure on the Grizzlies, Dallas led by Luka Doncic's 37 points pulled off a five-point win to go 3-1 in West Group C and tie with the Golden State Warriors. PJ Washington and Dereck Lively II chipped in with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Kyrie Irving gets candid about his relationship with the late Kobe Bryant
Kyrie Irving was candid about his relationship with the late Kobe Bryant. Speaking to Kai Cenat during his stream on Thanksgiving, he referred to the 'Black Mamba' as his brother.
"He was a genuine friend, a genuine big brother and to lose somebody like that was one of the hardest things to deal with, to grieve over it. As well as everybody else around the world, cuz he didn’t just mean something to me, he meant something to his family, people all over the world. And that’s how you know somebody did more than just play basketball, they were just universal."
On the season front, the Mavericks have made a steady ascent to take the third seed in the Western Conference Standings. The win against the Grizzlies saw them go 14-8 and extend their win streak to five wins.
Up next. Kyrie Irving and the Mavs head to a two-game road trip. They begin a four-game homestand with a two-game series against the LA Clippers.
