Kyrie Irving posts political meme aimed at Donald Trump & Kamala Harris amid US Presidential race

Aside from being one of the top guards of his generation, Kyrie Irving is most known for speaking on worldwide topics. As the offseason rolls along, the Dallas Mavericks guard made an interesting post on social media.

Later this year, the United States will hold its Presidential election. On Friday afternoon, Irving made a post on X (formerly Twitter) linked to the topic. In the political meme, a wolf is giving a speech to a crowd of sheep. While trying to get the crowd on its side, the wolf claims he'll become a vegetarian if the sheep decide to elect him.

Seeing that Kyrie Irving didn't make a caption with this post, there is no telling who it could be directed at. Following President Joe Biden's decision to not run in the upcoming election, Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to run against former President Donald Trump.

Over the past few years, Irving has spoken out against countless issues. The most notable being when he decided not to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Because of this, he was only able to play in road games for the Brooklyn Nets.

Kyrie Irving praised for dialing back public political comments

For years, the main thing brought up when discussing Kyrie Irving was his political comments. However, posts like the one he made on Friday have become a rarity as of late. Earlier this year, the Dallas Mavericks star was praised for dialing back his off-court remarks.

Last season, Irving helped lead the Mavericks to the NBA Finals alongside Luka Doncic. During the conference finals, Kenny Smith touched on how the discourse around the eight-time All-Star shifted back to basketball.

"I'm just excited that we're talking about him, and there's been like a constant change in the thought process about him by the mass media," Smith said. "As a basketball player, we're not talking about his political or social stances or looking at him in a negative view."

Kyrie Irving's stance on the vaccine was far from the only political statement he's made in recent years. Another action that caused a lot of media attention was when he posted a link to a movie on social media that had anti-semitic undertones. Following this decision, the Brooklyn Nets decided to suspend Irving indefinitely.

Since being traded to the Mavericks, Irving has turned a new leaf. As Smith said, he's toned things down when it comes to political remarks. Instead, his primary focus has been on basketball. In his first full season in Dallas, Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists.
