The LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors met for the fourth and final time this season on Wednesday. LA, which held a 2-1 series lead, hoped to capture the head-to-head battle with a win on the Dubs' home court. Getting the job done would be quite tough as the Clippers were without Kawhi Leonard who had been rested.
Steph Curry and rookie Brandin Podziemski came out firing, helping the Warriors to a 30-23 first-quarter lead. Jonathan Kuminga's two-way impact also bothered the Clippers in the game.
LA struggled out of the gates without "The Claw." However, coach Ty Lue got balanced contributions from the roster led by James Harden's 13 points to keep them within striking distance of their opponents.
Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell gave the Clippers a boost off the bench. LA knew it had to play much better in the second half to prevent the Warriors from running away. Golden State's 59-52 halftime lead could balloon if they fail to step up.
The second half was a slugfest between the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors. Steph Curry, who had the hot hand, gave the Warriors a slim 38-34 third-quarter edge. Paul George came alive and allowed the Clippers to go toe-to-toe with the home team.
The final period was when the Clippers finally got all cylinders going. Amir Coffey and Ivica Zubac joined the fray to give LA added boost. Without Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers eked out a 130-125 decision over Steph Curry and the Warriors.
