LA Lakers Injury Update (Jan. 21): Latest on LeBron James and Anthony Davis' status
The LA Lakers have familiar faces in LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the injury report ahead of their clash against the Washington Wizards at the Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday. The 4x NBA champion and the All-Star center have been regular features on the report as the Purple and Gold looks to stabilize their inconsistent campaign.
James has been listed as probable with left ankle soreness while Davis is questionable with a calf strain. It's interesting to see if the Lakers rest the big who is in the middle of a stellar campaign ahead of their upcoming challenging slate that includes the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers will be relieved of avoiding a major scare for guard Austin Reaves after he banged his knees during the showdown against the LA Clippers.
LeBron James makes feelings clear on the Lakers roster
The loss to the LA Clippers highlighted the LA Lakers' need to make major upgrades as they gear up for their testing second half of the season. The roster as constructed sees the LeBron James-led side as playoff contenders and is nowhere close to winning a title.
Speaking to the media after the loss to the Clippers, James shared his two cents on the roster when asked about the margin of errors the Lakers have each game.
"That’s how our team is constructed. We don’t have room for error — for much error. We don’t have a choice. I mean, that’s the way our team is constructed. And we have to play close-to-perfect basketball."
The Lakers cannot afford to lose either or both LeBron James or Anthony Davis for prolonged stretches of the season. They will need to make trades and put the right pieces around their star players if they intend to make the postseason as the team seeded better than eighth place.
