LA Lakers rumors: LeBron James and Anthony Davis may have to say goodbye to several teammates under new CBA rules

The LA Lakers appear to be in a bit of a pickle following the new Collective Bargaining Agreement that was announced last week. The new CBA rules could force the Lakers to let some of their players go.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, a second salary cap apron will be implemented moving forward, which could result in drastic changes to the makeup of teams.

"The league is implementing a second salary cap apron — $17.5 million over the tax line — and those teams will lose several key team building mechanisms, including the taxpayer mid-level exception, utilizing cash in trades, moving first-round picks in drafts that are seven years away, signing free agent players in the buyout market and taking on more money than is being sent out in trades, sources said."

The Lakers are one team that could be impacted by the new rule, which could force them to part with some key players.

Los Angeles has blown hot and cold in the 2022-23 NBA season. Despite their struggles early on, they've managed to stay in the playoff picture.

The LA Lakers are fighting for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. They're currently in seventh place, which would secure a berth in the play-in tournament.

Given how LeBron James and Anthony Davis have played in recent games, it looks like the Lakers have finally figured things out.

While they are expected to be in the postseason, it's unlikely they will make a deep run, given their current roster.
