LA Lakers vs Minnesota Timberwolves Injury Report for Oct 4 | 2024 NBA Preseason

The LA Lakers start their preseason slate against the Minnesota Timberwolves — the same team they face on the opening night of the 2024-25 season - on Friday night (Oct. 4) at the Acrisure Arena, Palm Springs.

The two teams met four times last season, and Minnesota won the regular season series 3-1. Now, a new-look team sans Karl-Anthony Towns will take the floor, so it will be interesting to see the changes they will ring in.

The Lakers are banking on their superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, their continuity with the same roster and a new coach in JJ Redick to make a difference this season. Expect James and/or Davis to play less than expected minutes or sit out of the contest as Redick looks to put his plans into motion with a young but potential-filled roster.

Preseason results are not an indication of how teams could fare when the regular season begins, but they set the tone for what a team could look like as the season progresses.

Both teams will miss key players for their Friday matchup. LA's depth takes a hit leading up to the game, while T-Wolves' latest acquisitions will likely be on the sidelines. Here's a look at what the injury report available at the time of writing looks like.
