LaMelo Ball and Lonzo Ball’s dad LaVar reveals blueprint for return to Los Angeles

The father of Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, LaVar, sat down with DJ Vlad for an interview. The business-minded father revealed that he wants his sons back in Los Angeles, their hometown, to play for the LA Clippers. It might be a long shot for him, but he has already planned out the possibility of their return to the city.

LaVar believes in his sons' talents and on-court skills. However, both of them are constantly injured and haven't gotten far into their careers. The Chicago Bulls guard hasn't played basketball since January 2022 because of a knee issue. Because of that, he's missed the past two seasons while rehabbing his knee.

The younger brother, on the other hand, has tried his best to remain healthy. LaMelo exceeded expectations and earned his first All-Star selection in his sophomore season, but has failed to follow through since then. Over the past two seasons, he's only appeared in 58 games combined due to various injuries.

Despite this, LaVar still believes his sons have what it takes to be valuable players for any team in the NBA. The Clippers is the team he wants his sons to play for as he shared his plot for the brothers' return to Los Angeles.

"I want them all to play for the Clippers," LaVar said, via NBACentral on X. "Cause here's the thing, I don't wanna go back to the Lakers on the fact that how you did Lonzo. So, why not bring the other two? Steve Ballmer, that's my guy, I like him, I like his style. That's why I tell him, 'My last name Ball, his last name Ballmer, we push the ball more'.
"Let the Clippers trade Melo over there. And then [let's say] Lonzo ain't good, and let Lonzo be like, 'Oh, I'm not going to re-sign with Chicago, let me sign with the Clippers''"

At the end of the interview, LaVar shared that he also wants his third son, LiAngelo, to play for the Clippers.

How has LaMelo Ball played the past two seasons?

LaMelo Ball hasn't played much since his first All-Star nod in the 2021-22 NBA season. During that season, he played 75 games, which is the most he's played in a season.

However, he followed it up with a 36-game appearance next season. It was unfortunate for Ball to suffer injuries as he had started to show his star quality.

The following season, he only suited up for 22 games before he was shut down by the franchise for the rest of the season due to an ankle injury. In the last two seasons, he's averaged 23.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 8.3 assists.

Ball was starting to increase his production but the injuries have held him back.
