'Laugh Now, Cry Later' feature Kevin Durant marks pal Drake's 37th born day with unseen picture
Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, who previously featured in Drake's 'Laugh Now, Cry, Later' music video, marked the Grammy-winning rapper's 37th birthday with a previously unseen picture. Durant took to Instagram to share a snap of the two and coupled it with a birthday message for Drake.
"More life to my dawg, my brother @champagnepapi," Durant captioned his IG story.
Kevin Durant and Drake have been friends for over a decade and have interacted countless times on social media. It even dates back to 2012, when Durant gave a shoutout to Drizzy ahead of the All-Star game in Orlando, Florida.
The rapper also seems to be the two-time NBA champion's favorite music artist as revealed by Anthony Edwards during the Fanatics Fest in New York in August. Edwards revealed that Durant only listened to Drake during their time with Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"Man, KD only wanna listen to Drake," Edwards said. "So you know I was with him the whole time so I wouldn’t listen to nobody but Drake.”
Durant also reaffirmed his bond during Drake's rap feud with Kendrick Lamar earlier this year. The two-time NBA MVP was spotted celebrating Canada Day with the Toronto-born rapper.
This came just a few days after other NBA stars including LeBron James, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden, Russell Westbrook and more were seen at Lamar's "Pop Out and Show" concert in Los Angeles in June.
Drake name-dropped Kevin Durant in alleged Kendrick Lamar diss track 'No Face'
The rap feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar seemed to stop after Lamar was felt to have won with the "Not Like Us" diss track in May. However, since then, Drake dropped another track in August, allegedly as a Lamar diss track.
In the 'No Face' song, the Canadian rapper tackled those who talked against him during his saga with Lamar and those who stood with him, for which he name-dropped Kevin Durant.
"Husher keep saying they know that they played it wrong/KD just text what the f*ck are we waiting on," Drake said.
It was not the first time that Drake name-dropped Durant in one of his songs. The rapper previously referenced the 14-time NBA All-Star in a verse for his his feature in French Montana's "Pop That" in 2012.
"Gettin' cheddar packs like KD, OKC that's player s***," Drake said.
Kevin Durant also appeared in Drake's 'Laugh Now, Cry Later' video in 2020, which featured the duo playing 1-on-1 basketball against each other.
