"Lebron feeding into gambling addictions": Fans react to Lakers star seemingly helping fan cash out on parlay with one final rebound
LA Lakers' superstar LeBron James made history on Sunday night, becoming the oldest player to record back-to-back triple-doubles after the Lakers dispatched the Toronto Raptors, 123-103. Finishing the game with 19 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds, James grabbed his final rebound with under two minutes left in the game, per the request of a fan in the stands.
The fan shouted at James to grab a 10th rebound.
“He definitely yelled at me, got my attention ... He said, ‘One more rebound!’ I was like, ‘What?’ He was like, ‘One more!’ So I got one more and I pointed at him to acknowledge that I was listening,” James said.
Fans reacted to James' deed, with many tying it to the fan possibly having a bet on the line.
“Lebron feeding into gambling addictions he not better than jordan,” said one fan.
“Goat for getting that man his money,” said another fan.
“My goat for the people 😭😭😭,” said one fan.
Other fans compared James to superstars with gambling ties, such as Chicago Bulls great Michael Jordan and Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, who had several run-ins with fans’ parlays.
“MJ could never.. he’d lose the parlay then continue drinking,” one fan said.
“That’s why he’s the goat meanwhile kd & others are like f*ck yo parlays,” said one fan.
“You know what. I respect Bron even more! KD a even bigger hoe now😭😂,” said another fan.
The win put the Lakers at 6-4. It was also James’ third triple-double this season, as he trails Russell Westbrook, Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson and Nikola Jokic in the all-time triple-double list.
LeBron James says he won't play until “the wheels fall off”
After his impressive triple-double performance, LeBron James, the oldest active player in the NBA, spoke about his longevity and achievements in the NBA.
“I was blessed by the Man above with some out-of-this-world ability from the beginning and then I took full advantage of it. I wasn’t going to disrespect what He was giving me. Let’s see how long I can do it. But I won’t do it until the wheels fall off, I’ll tell you that. I won’t be one of those guys,” he said.
James tied Vince Carter’s record for most seasons played in the NBA with 22. He will break the record if he opts into his player option next year.
James is averaging 23.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game this season. Earlier this season, he and his son, Bronny James, also became the first father-son duo in NBA history.
