LeBron James docuseries uncovers Eminem's hilarious tampon box tactic to avoid leak: "Post traumatic leak disorder is what I had"
NBA legend LeBron James joins none other than the extremely popular rapper Eminem. The two have partnered for a Paramount+ series, How Music Got Free, which looks into the rise of Napster (founded in 1999) and the overall phenomenon of piracy in the music industry. The series, which debuted on June 11 on Paramount+, has given fans a range of hilarious anecdotes.
This includes a fascinating tale narrated by Eminem himself, as he revealed how he would send his music to his manager, Paul Rosenberg, and keep his art safe. In a hilarious video making the rounds on the internet, Eminem revealed how he would use a range of tactics, including putting his CDs inside a tampon box, to keep them safe.
"We had to send music, and I wasn’t going to send it over internet," Eminem said. "So I was mailing shit to Paul so he could hear it. I put it in a big box, it would be wrapped ten different times, and there would be one CD. Cans of sodas, you know, a magazine, and a basketball. Or put it in a tampon box. Send it to Paul, who is gonna look in a tampon box?”
The rapper was undoubtedly correct in his assumption that not many people would look inside a tampon box. Rosenberg himself revealed his thought process when he would receive such packages from Eminem.
”So I would come to the office or the box and see this big box, and be like, ‘What’s that?’ And then I would look at where it came from, and I was like, ‘oh.’ That’s the CD that Marshall was gonna send me,” Rosenberg said.
The rapper then went on to reveal what they called this ‘condition,’ revealing a hilarious term:
”Post-traumatic leak disorder is what I had.”
The series revolves around the changes the entire music industry underwent due to the rise in internet piracy.
LeBron James joined forces with Eminem for this Paramount+ series
The LA Lakers superstar and Eminem are two of the many producers associated with How Music Got Free. Napster, a peer-to-peer file-sharing platform, completely revolutionized the music industry, as anyone could now share music files on the internet.
This means that newer releases could easily become obsolete in the post-Napster era, considering that artists would then not be able to garner the kind of money that they would have before Napster came around.
This led to a range of artists taking extreme measures to protect their music, and among them appears to be Eminem’s use of tampon boxes.
Regardless, How Music Got Free looks into the kind of losses that artists in the post-Napster era had to contend with. It largely presents a humorous outlook on the new era and features a range of interviews with Eminem himself.
Needless to say, James, who is known to be a huge music connoisseur himself, was also heavily involved as a producer.
