LeBron James doubles down on son Bronny's NBA potential by backing Mavs assistant coach's latest remark

LA Lakers star LeBron James backs Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Jared Dudley in his statement regarding Summer League players. All eyes are on James and his son, Bronny, after an abysmal start to the Summer League. In his first game, the young guard only had four points and struggled to make shots as he only made 2-9 of his attempts from the field.

The former NBA player and now assistant coach for the Mavs made a pretty convincing statement regarding the top performers in the Summer League. According to him, a few players who lead the summer games in scoring might not end up in the league. He countered that with a statement addressing the players who struggle in the summer tournament as the ones who could make it in a roster.

"There will be some 25-point scorers here that will not play in the NBA next year. There will be some guys who average 5 or 6 that will," Dudley said.

One of the players who agreed with this take was James. He shared a post on Instagram agreeing with Dudley's take.

"Say it louder for the section in the front and back!" James posted on Instagram.

James agrees with Dudley's take since his son has not had the best start to his NBA career. After his four-point performance, he missed the second game, which was against the Golden State Warriors. The younger James reportedly had a swelling on his knee that kept him from playing.

Former NBA player calls out LeBron James for his son's journey in the league

Steven Hunter, a former journeyman in the NBA, had something to say regarding LeBron James' influence on his son's career in the league. He posted a rant on Instagram, which was posted by an X (formerly Twitter) user.

"For those that don't know... Late second round picks don't get guarantees (especially before summer league)," he wrote. "Typically late second round picks don't get 4 year guaranteed roster spot deals either. This wasn't earned I'm sorry... And it's an egregious abuse of power from LBJ & [Klutch Sports CEO and Bronny and LeBron's agent] Rich Paul," Hunter posted.
"It's sneaky [Hollywood stuff] like this that turns a lot of people off about LeBron."

The Lakers signed Bronny to a four-year, $7.9 million deal, with $5.4 million of it being guaranteed. This came after he was drafted 55th overall by the organization. The contract also states that he cannot be traded until Dec. 15, 2025.
