LeBron James' ex-teammate believes LA Lakers are not set up to succeed: "It looks like there's no basketball over there, just playing pickup, it's hard to watch sometimes"
LeBron James and the LA Lakers are struggling to find their groove. They are second last in the Western Conference with a 2-7 record.
It was a nightmare start to the season for the Lakers, who went on to lose their first five games. The Lakers looked like they were finally turning the corner. They recorded a pair of impressive wins over the Denver Nuggets and New Orleans Pelicans on October 30 and November 2.
Their confidence took a hit after a disheartening 130-116 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday. They also lost 114-100 to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. Time is running out for the Lakers. They need to figure things out before it's too late.
The Lakers currently rank 27th in the league in points per game. They are also deadl last in 3-point percentage. It's clear that the Lakers' offense is not meshing. Do they have enough talent to turn their season around?
Denver Nuggets guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope recently shared his thoughts on the Lakers and his former teammate LeBron James. While speaking with ESPN, he described the team as "hard to watch."
"Just watching the games, it just looks like there's no basketball over there," Caldwell-Pope said. "It's just playing pickup. It's hard to watch sometimes."
"So from me to him [LeBron James, just get the team together. I just want to see that spark in him again. I don't think I see that spark in Bron. So, hopefully, he can get it back."
LeBron James and LA Lakers struggling in 2022-23 season
LeBron James and the LA Lakers are trending in the wrong direction. It's only going to get more challenging with their upcoming schedule.
The Lakers will hit the road to take on the Utah Jazz on Monday night. LeBron James will be sidelined due to left foot soreness.
James has put up impressive numbers this season. He's averaging 24.3 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 7.1 assists over nine games. However, he's struggling with his efficiency. James is shooting just 44.7% from the field and 21.0% from 3-point range. He hasn't shot under 30% from beyond the arc since his rookie season.
The Lakers are 28th in the league in field-goal percentage. The team has also been without veterans Dennis Schroder and Thomas Bryant due to injuries. Both players were expected to be a big part of the team's rotation.
Aside from James and star forward Anthony Davis, only Lonnie Walker and Russell Westbrook have averaged north of 10.0 points per game.
Whether it's through internal improvement or a major trade, the Lakers need to find a solution quickly. They can't afford to toss away games in a competitive Western Conference.
