LeBron James isn't the first player who comes to mind for Ice Cube's son when talking Lakers superstars
LeBron James is the most criticized player in NBA history by a mile. The league's all-time leading scorer has proved doubters wrong for his entire career, especially with his most recent championship victory in 2019-20.
James sealed his fate as a Los Angeles Lakers legend with a championship run in the NBA bubble to cap off the 2019-20 season, the team's first championship since 2009-10. The Lakers have struggled in the years since, causing LeBron's critics to re-emerge over the last few seasons.
Legendary rapper Ice Cube's son and "Straight Outta Compton" star, O'Shea Jackson, who is a Lakers superfan, joined the doubters, throwing shade at LeBron James with an X post on Monday night. Jackson responded to a post asking fans for the first Lakers player not named LeBron James to come to mind.
"Lmao he was never gonna be the first I thought of," Jackson commented.
Despite James' contributions to the Lakers organization, Jackson feels the four-time MVP isn't in the same conversation as Los Angeles legends such as Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
In his seven seasons with the Lakers, James has averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 assists and 7.9 rebounds per game.
LeBron James notches triple-double versus Raptors
In Los Angeles' 123-103 win over the Toronto Raptors in front of a home crowd on Sunday night, LeBron James continued his dominance versus the Raptors. James' rivalry with the Raptors dates back to his second sting with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he refueled it with a triple-double effort versus Toronto in the win.
In 35 minutes of action, James posted 19 points, a season-high 16 assists and 10 rebounds on 6 of 14 shooting. It was his third triple-double performance in just 10 games this season, continuing to shine in his 22nd NBA season.
James helped the Lakers advance to 6-4 in the new year, continuing their undefeated winning streak at home with a 5-0 mark in front of their home crowd. In 10 games, James is averaging 23.2 points, 8.9 assists and 7.7 rebounds, shooting 51.5% from the field and a career-high 44.4% from the 3-point range.
