LeBron James has a new neighbor after LA Lakers teammate Russell Westbrook buys $37 million home right across the street: All you need to know

Russell Westbrook's relationship with team captain LeBron James has grown over the last year. Their relationship will likely grow as Westbrook has reportedly purchased a new home close to LBJ.

Westbrook previously had a home in LA but put it up for sale sometime last month. As an LA native, his decision to acquire a new property in the area is understandable.

According to a report by Darren Rovell, Westbrook got the house from Formula 1 star Petra Ecclestone for $37 million:

"LeBron has a new neighbor in LA. Told that F1 heiress, Petra Ecclestone sold her home on q¹celebrity packed Tigertail Road in Brentwood to Russell Westbrook for $37M yesterday. The house is directly across the street from Lebron James.
"Nice flip, she bought it for $23M in 2019."

The LA Lakers guard is one of the highest-paid players in the league this season. His salary for the 2022-23 season is $47 million.

Tigertail Road is a celebrity haven

For years, Tigertail Road in Brentwood has been a celebrity hotspot. James acquired his second Brentwood home in 2017, shortly before he joined the Lakers.

Tigertail Road is one of the most revered streets on the Westside, which might explain why James chose to buy a home there despite having one in Brentwood Park.

Tigertail Road is home to several celebrities across different industries. From popular actor Jim Carrey to executives like Ben Sherwood and Scooter Braun. Riot Games CEO Brandon Beck and businessman Randall Kaplan also have homes in the area.

Does this mean anything for Russell Westbrook's future with the LA Lakers?

Although Los Angeles is a dream location to own a home, not many professional athletes invest in that, especially when there's a possibility of playing in another city. However, Westbrook's decision to own a home across the street from James begs some questions.

Throughout the offseason, fans have clamored for the franchise to move Russ. His contributions have not been satisfactory to many, especially with his shooting struggles.

While Westbrook's decision to get a home in LA might not be linked to his continued stay with the franchise, it is worth considering. There is a chance the point guard has an insight into his future with the Lakers.

Meanwhile, it could be solely because he is an LA native, especially since he put his other house on the market. The decision to get a place close to James might be solely out of location preference.

Westbrook opted into his player option during the offseason. Unless traded, he will play out the season with the Lakers.

Westbrook's start to the season hasn't been great, and fans have already started calling him out. In three games, the All-Star guard is averaging 10.3 points and has shot 28.9%.

However, it is worth noting that he has put together amazing shifts on the defensive end. The standout game was against the LA Clippers, as he championed an attempted comeback with consecutive stops.
