LeBron James questions Lakers' seemingly bizarre decision ahead of Bucks clash

LeBron James is entering his 22nd NBA season and his seventh with the LA Lakers. The purple and gold squad will also begin the JJ Redick tenure as their new head coach with a promising outlook this season.

The Lakers face the Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow in a preseason game, and James was not entirely sure why the team decided to book a flight to the opposing team's arena for just a single preseason game.

He aired out his frustration on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Can someone please explain to me why we're getting on a plane and heading to Milwaukee for a 1 pre-season game?" James posted.

The Lakers star didn’t add more information to his gripes about the team flight. The game is scheduled for tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET at Fiserv Forum. Their previous preseason game was played at Acrisure Arena, Palm Desert, CA.

Last season, LeBron James averaged 25.7 points (54.0% shooting, including 41.0% from beyond the arc), 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game.

LeBron James talked about the team’s promising growth with their offensive game

Despite the 118-114 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, LeBron James was optimistic with how his ball club performed. In an interview with Lakers Nation’s Matt Peralta, James talked about the team’s offensive process.

“I like the way we played offensively, we shared the ball,” James said. “We had some turnovers from myself that I didn’t particularly like but I’m also trying to do some things that are different, which is a good thing though.”

The Lakers forward also highlighted the team’s emphasis on playing with pace to get the advantage over their opponents.

“We want to push the ball, we want to kick the ball ahead, we want to be better with that. But all in all, I thought we had great energy, we paid attention to detail and I feel like we got better. So that’s a win for us.”

Last season, the Lakers ranked 15th offensively (115.4 rating) in the league, where they experienced hurdles with their ball movement. They struggled to establish a proper offensive identity throughout the season. The team finished seventh in the Western Conference standings with a 47-35 record.

However, this upcoming 2024-25 season carries a promising vision for the team under JJ Redick. He is projected to establish a strong winning culture for the team that could set their standard for years to come.
