LeBron James reacts in 3 words to Cillian Murphy shooting for new Peaky Blinders movie on Netflix
LeBron James opened his 22nd season in the NBA and his seventh with the LA Lakers on Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After a victorious season opener, James turned his attention to a new cinematic project.
James is a big fan of the Netflix series "Peaky Blinders" starring Cillian Murphy. The four-time NBA MVP has posted about the show numerous times in the past, showing his fandom for the popular series. In June, Netflix announced a Peaky Blinders full-length movie would be in the works.
The film began shooting earlier this week, with Cillian Murphy reprising his lead role. On Thursday afternoon, LeBron shared his excitement for the upcoming film on Instagram in three words:
"CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!"
A release date for the upcoming film has yet to be announced by Netflix but given the success and popularity of the series, it will doubtless be a hugely-discussed movie when it debuts.
LeBron James' basketball movie
Back in August, LeBron James produced a basketball movie. "Rez Ball" is a Netflix film about a high school basketball team attempting to make a championship run in the absence of their star player. The movie dives into the team's Native American heritage and culture, which helps motivate them on their journey.
James' movie is based on the novel "Canon Dreams: A Basketball Season on the Navajo Reservation," by Michael Powell. LeBron James has experience working in film, having starred in several movies and starting his own production company, the SpringHill Company which he founded in 2020. "Rez Ball" was released on Netflix on September 8.
LeBron James has also starred in movies, such as "Space Jam: A New Legacy" and "Trainwreck," arguably his two most well-known roles. He was a co-producer of Space Jam and also co-produced "House Party," a 2023 film he starred in, playing himself. James was also the executive producer for a hockey film entitled "Black Ice," which was released in 2022.
