LeBron James scoring tracker as of February 3, 2023 | How far is LeBron from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record?
LeBron James is 63 points away from breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record. James had another monster game on Thursday night against the Indiana Pacers. "The King" finished the game with 26 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists to help the LA Lakers get the 112-111 win.
James entered Thursday's contest just 89 points from becoming the NBA's all-time leading scorer. He has been on a tear ever since turning 38 years old, averaging 34.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 8.2 assists since December 30.
The absence of Anthony Davis in the past month contributed to James' scoring outburst since the Lakers needed him to. They are trying to make the playoffs after last season's embarrassing campaign.
Nevertheless, this season has been all about LeBron James' chase to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record that has stood since 1984. Abdul-Jabbar opened up about the inevitability of "The King" in becoming the NBA's all-time leading scorer.
"When I broke Wilt Chamberlain’s scoring record in 1984, the year LeBron was born, it bothered Wilt, who'd had a bit of a one-sided rivalry with me since I'd started doing so well in the NBA," Abdul-Jabbar wrote in his Substack. "I don't feel that way toward LeBron. Not only will I celebrate his accomplishment, I will sing his praises unequivocally."

When could LeBron James break the scoring record?
LeBron James is just 63 points away from becoming the NBA's all-time leading scorer. He has been averaging 34.1 points since December 30, which means he can break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record on February 7 at Crypto.com Arena against the OKC Thunder.
The LA Lakers will face the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday to finish off their five-game road trip. If James somehow scores 63 points, two more than his career high, against the Pelicans, it would be one of the most amazing feats in NBA history.
However, most people are anticipating it to happen next at home in front of thousands of Lakers fans. Some courtside tickets for the game against the Thunder are reportedly going for as high as a whopping $92,000.
It's an absurd amount of money, but it's not the first time it's happened for a LA Lakers game. Kobe Bryant's last game had an average ticket price of $1,137. It was a historic night, and February 7 is gearing up to be another one.
The only possible thing that could derail James' record-breaking night is an injury. He's already dealing with ankle soreness, but continues to play his heart out every night. Every game is important for the Lakers, considering how tight the race for the postseason in the Western Conference.
