The Lakers focused on Anthony Davis attacking the paint for most of the first quarter, attempting to force the Spurs' big man to foul.

The Lakers found success challenging Wembanyama with Davis scoring 16 first-quarter points. LeBron James added four points and four rebounds to help support their star big man. Their efforts led to a one-point 31-30 lead in the opening period.

In the second quarter, James continued to play floor general bursting out with three quick assists in the first two minutes. LeBron then played solid defense, securing a couple of possessions for the Lakers. He added five more points and seven more assists in the second quarter, nearly ending the first half with a triple-double.

Come the third quarter, LeBron James was on the way to notching his fourth consecutive triple-double. All LeBron needed was two more points, two more assists, and one more rebound. Come the sixth-minute mark, James secured his triple-double, achieving a career-high with four straight.

Ultimately, the Lakers came out on top with a 120-115 victory. Anthony Davis’ double-double performance matched with LeBron James’ triple-double is what undoubtedly helped secure the nail-biting victory.

The LA Lakers were in Texas to take on the San Antonio Spurs in their first game for the Emirate NBA Cup. Anthony Davis and LeBron James overwhelmed the younger Spurs team with big-time performances. LeBron made history once again as he notched his fourth consecutive triple-double.

It’s the most times he has achieved the triple-double in consecutive games. James added 15 points, 16 rebounds, and 12 assists. LBJ focused more on playing floor general to set up Davis, who had a tough matchup against Victor Wembanyama.

Fortunately for Davis, he was able to execute head coach JJ Redick’s plan to keep attacking Wembanyama in the paint. His efforts resulted in 40 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks. Despite having some difficulty stopping the Spurs giant, he managed to outscore him, which is a huge reason why the Lakers were able to come out on top on Friday.
