LeBron James thrilled over Tyrese Haliburton's vintage photo in his jersey
After LeBron James and Team USA's gold medal win over France at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Tyrese Haliburton took to social media to post a series of old photos sent to him by his mom. Included in the photos were a pair of pictures showing a young Tyrese Haliburton wearing LeBron James jerseys.
One photo shows Haliburton wearing a LeBron James All-Star jersey, with the other showing Haliburton wearing James' St. Vincent-St. Mary high school jersey. Haliburton posted the two photos side by side, including a third picture of he and LeBron James in Paris flexing their gold medals in the locker room post-game.
Haliburton posted all three photos to X, formerly known as Twitter, along with a caption where he wrote that his mom had sent him the two throwback photos from when he was a kid. At the end of his message, the Indiana guard wrote that life is crazy.
LeBron James took note of the post, responding on Tuesday with a saluting emoji, and a crown emoji along with a caption that read:
"Haha! Crazy bro!!! WOW!!"
Given that Haliburton was born in 2000, and James was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the summer of 2003, Haliburton was just three years old at the time James was drafted.
Now, all these years later, he has come into his own as one of the best guards in the NBA, with James still at the top of his game despite his age.
Tyrese Haliburton's lighthearted post about lack of playing time for Team USA prior to LeBron James post
While Tyrese Haliburton and Team USA won the gold medal in Paris, Haliburton notably played in just three of Team USA's six games in Paris. After playing in three of Team USA's international friendlies leading up to the Olympics, Haliburton didn't touch the floor in Team USA's opening Group Phase game against Serbia.
In Team USA's highly anticipated rematch with South Sudan in the Group Phase after the two teams went down to the wire in an international friendly prior to the Olympics, Haliburton played just seven and a half minutes, logging six points and an assist.
He then played just over ten minutes in Team USA's final Group Phase game against Puerto Rico, but struggled to get going, with just one steal on the box score. Despite the lack of production, coach Steve Kerr then played Haliburton eight minutes against Brazil in the quarterfinals.
Haliburton logged two points and an assist in the game, with Kerr benching him for both the semifinal and gold medal games. Following Team USA's win over France on Saturday, Haliburton took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to react to his lack of playing time:
"When you ain't do nun on the group project and still get an A"
Although he didn't play many minutes in Paris, expect Tyrese Haliburton to be a key piece in Team USA's 2027 FIBA World Cup team, as well as the 2028 Olympic team.
