LeBron James wastes no time in rocking first-ever signature $130 Nike training shoes "TR1"
Future Hall of Famer LeBron James and Nike will release an all-new training shoe as part of the four-time NBA champ's signature line. The multi-faceted shoes deliver a comfortable, high-performance experience to athletes of all backgrounds. They will be released in four colorways beginning Sep. 19 for $130.
James took to Instagram to post several reports about the release of the all-new LeBron TR1 training shoes on Friday. He then posted a video of himself wearing the colorway called Zero Dark 30.
The first colorway is called Dunkman and will be released on Sep. 19, a little over two weeks before James and the Lakers have their first preseason game. The uniquely designed shoes come in a two-tone black and grey colorway, with a green Nike swoosh accent.
The all-black and grey colorway is called Zero Dark Thirty and will be released on Oct. 10. James showed off these sneakers in Friday's Instagram story post.
The Zero Dark Thirty's release date will coincide with LA's preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks, which will be their third of the season. Nike will then drop a two-tone colorway called Purple Rain on Oct. 23 and a burnt-orange colorway called Better With Age on Nov. 11.
Looking at the details of LeBron James and Nike's new LeBron TR1 training shoe
On Thursday, Nike posted an article on the company's site announcing the release of the LeBron TR1 training shoe. While James is known for dominating on the court, the shoe is designed to be the perfect training shoe off the court.
According to Nike, the shoe is multi-dimensional like James, with several unique design features and cutting-edge performance technology.
The design team removed a common piece used in the construction of athletic shoes, known as the strobel, which traditionally sits at the bottom of the shoe's upper. As a result, the shoes are lighter and allow the wearer to have one less barrier between them and the foam cushion sole.
James was quoted as saying this in a statement included in Nike's announcement of the TR1 training shoe:
"The TR1 is for the athlete who’s in constant pursuit of greatness and puts in the work, day in and day out. Training is a huge part of my journey, and this shoe is designed for athletes to use during any workout, any time, any place.”
The shoes also have a unique traction design created by the Nike Sport Research Lab. It makes the shoe lighter and enhances traction regardless of whether athletes train indoors or outdoors.
