LeBron James' wife Savannah James addresses how she deals with Bronny James' haters
LeBron James is widely regarded as one of the NBA’s most accomplished players, though his career has had its share of critics. His longtime partner, Savannah James, who has been with him since high school, is no stranger to that scrutiny.
On Tuesday's episode of her podcast, "Everybody's Crazy," Savannah spoke about how she copes with the negativity directed at Bronny James and her efforts to avoid getting too emotionally affected by it. On her podcast, a listener asked Savannah how to handle the "negativity" as a "sports mom."
"I tried to stay away," Savannah said (35:24). ... "Not stay away from the game, just stay away from the people so I don't hear the banter. But I can't say that I didn't try it a couple of times with a baby on my head."
As a parent, she has limits and isn't afraid to show her teeth.
"I'm an overprotective parent, too, and there's only so much that you could take, especially when these are kids," she added. "They're going to sixth grade or fifth grade or wherever the next level is. We're not talking about NBA contracts coming from these like AAU games or recreational games, so it took a lot. I had to learn. I feel like that's really when I started to learn breathing techniques because I had to talk myself down from cussing people out."
Savannah James attended Bronny James' G League debut
Bronny had a short bout in the NBA before heading to the Los Angeles Lakers' G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. He will spend most of the season there to work on his game and development.
Savannah and LeBron James were in attendance to watch Bronny's G-League debut on Saturday. The UCLA Health Training Center was packed to watch their firstborn, who finished the game with six points, three rebounds and four assists on 22.0% from the floor.
