NBA insider revealed that LeBron James got the green light from his wife to play for Team USA this summer

There's no denying that LeBron James is in the twilight years of his professional basketball career. When an athlete reaches that point of their tenure, it's evident that one envisions making the most out of it.

In the case of the Lakers superstar, NBA insider Tim Bontemps revealed that he got the green light from his wife Savannah to be available to suit up for USA Basketball this year.

There's no guarantee that the four-time NBA champion will still be available in future Olympic games as he will turn 40 in December. With James playing in the final years of his career, it remains incredible to see him be "all in" on a potential final Olympic run.

LeBron James highlighted the importance of sacrifice for this year's USA Basketball roster

Looking over the roster of 2024 Team USA, it's clear as day how talented and deep the ball club is. Ranging from Hall of Famers to promising young stars in the league, it's evident that the organization's committee wanted to give themselves the best chance of securing the gold medal.

During his interview at training camp, LeBron James highlighted how crucial it is for every player on the team to be willing to sacrifice when asked.

"We have so many great players but we all have to make sacrifices," James said (via HoopsHype). "One, for being here understanding what it means to represent Team USA. So none of us are looking forward to going out and trying to carry the team like we sometimes have to do for a respected franchise. ... We want to play for each other. ... Our only goal is to win a gold medal."

With several number-one options in the team, the main star on the roster becomes a blur when everyone prioritizes winning. When placed in the context of redemption from last year's fourth-place finish in the FIBA World Cup, it remains paramount that the team gets the job done by any means necessary.
