LeBron James' wife Savannah James explains being 'selfish' with Bryce and Bronny James helped her overcome identity crisis
Savannah James, the wife of 20-time NBA All-Star LeBron James, has entered the podcast scene with her "Everybody's Crazy" show. In the latest episode, she described how she grew selfish toward herself in order to develop a sense of identity after starting a family at a young age.
She was asked by a caller who was also in a similar boat where she spent the majority of her time looking after her kids. When Bronny and Bryce James were still young, Savannah ensured that she didn't come up short in raising them.
However, as her kids started to grow up, she was able to find the time for herself and discover more about herself.
"(12:50) I feel you. This is is the issue that I had for a very long time and it wasn't just my kids, it was also my husband," James said. "I felt like I didn't have an identity outside of that ... I really had to start to go on a journey who Savannah was outside of Bronny and Bryce. ... I just really started to, I hate to say it, but just be selfish with my time ..."
Savannah James was originally not in favor of LeBron James' decision to return to Cleveland
LeBron James originally started his excellent NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, after being drafted first overall in 2003. After playing in his seventh season with the franchise, he eventually transitioned over to the Miami Heat in the hopes of capturing his first championship.
However, Savannah revealed in the latest episode of her podcast that she was not in the same boat as his husband's decision.
"And then LeBron said I'm taking my talents back to Cleveland," James said. "I'm like what, no, I don't want to go back."
At the time, James wanted to deliver on the goal that he had previously come up short on, which was to bring a title to the city of Cleveland. Her wife felt otherwise as she explained that she was just getting settled down with a social circle and adjusting to living in Miami.
The couple worked things out and after playing four more seasons with the Cavaliers, the James family found a new home in Los Angeles with the Lakers.
